 The perfect coffee recipe:

About hot coffee

Usually, I stick to tea, but sometimes nothing but coffee will do the trick. Whenever I feel blue or have trouble shaking off a yawn, I turn to the frothy coffee method. Known as "bitten coffee" in India, this method can also be used to make cappuccinos and lattes.

Although I prefer to get coffee from a trained barista at a cafe, only do so on special occasions as it costs too much! This method of making cafe-style hot coffee produces a delightfully frothy counterpart for a fraction of the price.

Using just 4 easy-to-find ingredients and no special coffee devices, you can make the best tasting coffee at home. Still good? It takes less than 15 minutes to make, which is about as long as you would try to get one from your local coffee shop.

Also, while the recipe is written for a medium sized coffee, remember that you can halve it or double it to suit your caffeine needs!

   you will need

You don't need much to make this cafe-style coffee at home. Here is your list:

Instant Coffee Granules – I used Nescafé Classic Instant Coffee but you can also use Brew Instant Coffee (for Indian readers) or any other instant coffee or espresso granules of your choice. Feel free to swap in a decaf variety if needed!

Milk – I've found that whole milk and 2% milk work better for frothing than skim milk, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand. You can even make a vegan coffee using your favorite plant-based milk substitute. If it's not dairy, it doesn't need to be boiled; Heat it until it reaches your desired temperature.

Sweets of your choice. Brown sugar or molasses will add more caramel flavor.

    Hot water – preferably boiling!

Spoon – The first part of this cafe style coffee recipe is to whisk the coffee quickly and vigorously with a spoon.

Jars with tight-fitting lids – Creating a perfect, frothy head of milk in your coffee is as easy as heating the milk and shaking the heck out of it in a mason jar. If possible, I recommend choosing one with a handle to prevent any discomfort while holding it.

You can use a milk frother instead of spoons and jars if you want, but as promised, my recipe shows you how to make cafe-style brewed coffee with zero fancy equipment.

   Materials

▢1.5 tsp instant coffee – Nescafé or your favorite brand

▢Add 1.5 tbsp sugar or as per taste

   ▢3 tbsp water – hot

   ▢1 cup of milk

   instructions

Add instant coffee and sugar to a cup.

Add 3 tablespoons of hot boiling water.

First mix the coffee and sugar with the water and start stirring quickly and beating the coffee with a spoon for 3 to 4 minutes.

Beat until the coffee is light in color and you see a frothy layer on top.

Then bring 1 cup of milk to a small but heavy saucepan over medium to medium heat.

When the milk boils, pour the milk into a glass container or thermos flask.

Do not use plastic bottles or jars. You can also use a steel bottle. A glass jar with a handle helps when shaking the milk while it is heating.

Now shake the jar vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a handheld frother to froth the milk. Milk can also be blended in a blender.

There should be a nice layer of frothy foam on top of the milk.

Pour the frothed milk into the cup containing the coffee.

After adding ⅓ or ½ of the milk to the coffee, stir with a spoon. You can even gently rotate the cup so that the milk mixes with the coffee.

Then pour in the rest of the milk along with the frothy layer.

Serve straight up cafe style coffee.

You can even sprinkle some cinnamon powder or cocoa powder on top. Enjoy this homemade cafe style coffee.

   Comment

Instant coffee can be in powder form or granulated. I used Nescafé in the recipe, but you can add your favorite brand of instant coffee.

For a lighter version of this drink, add a little more hot water.

If you prefer you can skip adding milk and just add hot water.

   Sweets can be your choice.
